These positions will be located in Ukiah, CA For more information about this location, please visit the BLM Ukiah, CA website. Park Rangers support parks and recreation programs. They work with the public to provide information and guidance. Duties may include but are not limited to participating in evaluating visitor use patterns, preparing and maintaining recreation sites, and monitoring the condition of sites and natural and cultural resources. Park Rangers may develop and conduct interpretive hikes, walks, talks, and demonstrations to a variety of age groups. They conduct patrols, safety inspections, and respond to emergency situations. Work is mostly performed outdoors in all types of weather on rugged terrain to include; steep, wet, muddy, rough, uneven or rocky surfaces. Position require physical exertion such as, but not limited to, driving over unpaved roads, walking over rough terrain, standing for long periods of time, bending, digging, hiking, lifting, or similar activities. Duties may require carrying heavy backpacks, tools, rescue equipment, or other loads. Work may involve early morning hours, daytime hours, or night hours and may require working on holidays. You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-6 level. Examples of specialized
Experience:
park guide or tour leader; archaeological or historical preservation research work; forestry and/or fire management work in a park, recreation or conservation work in a park; manage, assist, or perform program specialist work involving the development and implementation of policy related to protection, conservation, or management of park areas or similar operations; planning day to day operation of a recreation area providing such facilities as camping, water sports, picnic areas, or coordinating routine activities with maintenance personnel; advising visitors concerning safety, fire prevention, and proper and authorized uses of recreational facilities. -OR-Successful completion of one full academic year of graduate education related to the occupation (i.e. related course work) or superior academic achievement. -OR- A combination of experience and education to meet total experience. Related Course Work -- natural resource management, natural sciences, earth sciences, history, archeology, anthropology, park and recreation management, law enforcement/police science related to the protection of public lands, social sciences, museum sciences, or other closely related subjects pertinent to the management and protection of natural and cultural resources. Course work in fields other than those specified may be accepted if it clearly relates to the duties performed by a Park Ranger. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of the announcement.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
