Engineering Technician

Manages the scattered site construction budget, determining the number and priority of individual projects that can be funded, based on evaluation of pending applications. Performs site evaluations in accordance with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Onsite Wastewater Treatment System Manual and the American Water Works Association Manual of Water Supply Practices - Groundwater. Conducts or directs detailed planning and construction surveying and staking for control panel points, location, alignment, and grade of sanitation facilities installed, establishment of base lines and grades for scattered site systems. Serves as construction representative and contracting officer's representative for scattered site contract construction projects accomplished through federal and tribal procurement. Coordinates construction operations with contractors, tribes, local housing authorities, Bureau of Indian Affairs housing officers, individual homeowners, and other federal and local agencies involved and with any utility companies and highway officials of construction or disruption of services. Assists engineers on community projects, such as conducting preliminary site investigations to determine feasibility of projects. These duties are described at the full performance level (GS-9). The GS-8 level is developmental leading to such performance. To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. Qualifications:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:
For GS-8, experience including:
demonstrates possessing knowledge of and ability in providing civil engineering design and construction monitoring support to engineers for constructions of community water, wastewater and solid waste facilities, and managing water or wastewater services for residential homes in accordance with an organization's regulations and guidelines. For GS-9, experience including:
providing civil engineering design and construction monitoring support to engineers for construction of community water, wastewater and solid waste facilities, and managing water and wastewater services for residential homes in accordance with the agency's regulations and guidelines such as from the Environmental Protection Agency. OR Two full years of graduate education or a master's degree meets the requirements for GS-9 in courses directly related to the work of the position. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements:
Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
